Arvind Kejriwal
is a relieved soul now. The present Delhi assembly is going to be dissolved.
After months of suspense, that was itself pushed into suspended animation
regularly, the air got clear yesterday with BJP saying no to the Delhi Lieutenant
Governor on prospects of forming the government.
And with it, the
prospect of exploring prospects of forming a government in Delhi based on the
outcome of December 2013 assembly polls got the final burial.
Kejriwal's
prime-ministerial ambitions had pushed him to junk the Delhi government in
February but the move badly backfired. And it put in motion many things,
including the increasing reluctance of TV cameras to chase and follow him.
Soon, he was pushed to the oblivion of the political news coverage.
These eight
months have seen ups and downs of political notes on chances of government formation
in Delhi. Both the sides capable of forming the government, AAP and BJP, tried
their manoeuvrings to squeeze in the numbers to form the government but in the
end circumstances pushed them to shield behind the so-called 'high moral
ground'.
AAP jumped to it
first. BJP came later on, riding high on Modi Wave delivering Haryana and
Maharashtra to the party.
But, all this
while, cameras remained shy of Kejriwal, irrespective of him writing to the L-G
conveying that AAP was exploring avenues to form the government in Delhi again
or Kejriwal sweeping or the drain on October 2, when Narendra Modi launched the
'Clean India Campaign' or Kejriwal trying to score high based on the outcome of
the Lok Sabha polls where its vote share increased. All this while, it remained
dry for Kejriwal. Given the status of media following he enjoyed, he was
reduced to a level even inferior to an occasional political newsmaker.
But, the exile
ended today after its script was written yesterday. Kejriwal is back. He is
giving interviews. He is hitting back on his political opponents. He is
claiming to win clear majority in the upcoming polls. He is speaking the way he
had been speaking when he was in news. In fact, he is the same Kejriwal who
dumped the Delhi electorate. Nothing much has changed in these eight months.
Hope, he will
keep on repeating his apology on
deserting Delhi so soon and so immaturely, because he believes his party
has real chances of scoring well in Delhi and he is a position to give BJP a
tough fight.
Many others
including BJP, political analysts and newsmaking machinery believe in this as
well and so, Kejriwal is going to remain in news, at least till the time the
results are announced.
And that period
began today. The relieved and happy Kejriwal would be found geared up 24/7, now
onward, with his muffler and his cap. And given the season of the year, winter
is beginning in Delhi with temperature coming down, the seasonal change is ripe
to reintroduce the coughing element.
