Two days, a recorded interview, two meetings, and
some scathing remarks with some opportunistic but timed phrases – and Narendra
Modi is dictating the terms of the political communication in the country.
This is the phenomenon of the brand Modi and the
agenda-setting the Narendra Modi way.
Two days, July 12, when the Reuters interview
set the day’s news agenda and July 14, when Narendra Modi addressed two
gatherings in Pune, one in a college, addressed to the youngsters by a Narendra
Modi clad in white while the other one was addressed to the BJP workers, by a
Narendra Modi, clad in saffron.
Such is his pull that his opponents are busy
interpreting what he said digging out points where they can attack Modi on what
he said, and are responding accordingly. And in their overzealousness, they are
interpreting what Modi would not even have thought of – all to the advantage of
Narendra Modi.
